SAFARI TRIPS TO ZANZIBAR ISLANDS
ZANZIBAR just the name Zanzibar, evokes feelings of romance and mystery. And the reality won’t disappoint known as the Spice Island because of its export of cloves.
Zanzibar only 20 minutes by plane or as little as 90 minutes by sea from Dar es Salaam is set like a jewel in tranquil, coral filled waters. To its shores come summaries, Assyrians, Egyptians, Portuguese, Arabs, Dutch and British, each leaving behind a legacy of their stay.

KILIMANJARO THE ROOF OF AFRICA(Trekking)
Mount Kilimanjaro can be climbed by any normally fit person, with assistance of a professional guide porters and cook.
Mount Kilimanjaro can be climbed any time of the year but there are two rain seasons-late march and mid June and November the best months are December to march and July to October which are dry and minimum cloud. But weather condition change rapidly on the mountain. Temperature at 4000m is + 15OC during day time while freezing at night. At the summit temperature + 5OCdaytime and 22OCat night.
THE MAIN ROUTES ARE MARANGU (5 Days/4 Nights)
Day 1: the route begins at the national park marangu gate at 6000ft. It’s 3-4 hours walk through the
Fascinating rainforest to the mandara hut at 9000ft, close by the Maundi crater
Day 2: one leaves the last glades of forest and follows the gently ascending path through the open alpine meadow. The altitude begins to make itself felt, cautioning one to tread slowly and just enjoy the flora and the long view. Horombo hut at 12000ft is reached in some5 hours.
Day 3: after good night’s rest one continues post the catcus like giant groundsel and the last water, and moves into the lunar landscape of the saddle between kibo and Mawenzi. The masoned kibo hut at 1545ft is reached in 5-6 hours.
Day 4: the day start for the summit is made in the wee hours of the morning. For some 5 hours one climbs the steepest and most demanding part of the route to gillman’s point at 18640ft on crater rim. The remaining 45 minutes to the highest point- UHURU PEAK are easier. Some climber even feels strong enough to decently into the inner crater, where sulphurous gases and warm sand leaves no doubt but that one stand on a volcano .the descend is far less tiring and the night is spent at Horombo hut.
Day 5: the descend continue past mandara hut to the park headquarters where successful climbers may now collect their certificate of achievements.
MACHAME ROUTE (6 DAYS/ 5 NIGHTS)
Day 1: THE ROUTE STARTS AT Machame gate walking through thick forest until it eventually breaks into giant heath near machame hut campsite at 1000ft.
Day 2: ascend through heath and moorland to shira hut at 12598ft. Overnight with fine view of kibo’s western breach and the wide shira plateau.
Day 3;p proceeding towards kibo peak, then turn southwards just before reaching the lava outcrop beyond which the lava tower hut is located. Crossing several ridges and valleys, you arrive at the lip of the great barranco, views from the camp at barranco hut 12795ft
Day 4:descend into the gorge then climb its vertical eastern wall, walk be neath kibo’s southern ice field still going until the path descends into the shallow karanga valley (last water) crossing lava ridge to the barafu hut at 15092ft.
Day 5: you begin the summit climb in the frigid post midnight hours. Passing through boulder- strewn ridge and a gap between the rebmann and ratzel glaciers to arrive at the rim near stele point about midway between gillman’s point and UHURU PEAK, at 19340 ft. from there you descend straight to mweka hut.
Day 6: the descend continues to mweka gate
CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT.
The following mountain equipment are recommended: sleeping bag mountain boots,(for the final ascent) tent and mattress and warm clothes (underwear, socks, trouser, jacket, sweater, gloves and balaclava). Also you need sun glasses, walking stick, waterbottle, rain coat, rain trouser, rucksack, toilet paper, sun protect cream and personal medication. Most of the equipment can be hired from our office.
LIABILITY
Clients are expected to take out their own holiday insurance covering accident or ill health etc and to accept the risk of alterations to climb or safari caused by bad weather etc.
The company and its agents will only act as the agent of its customers in all matters related to Safari. Law of Tanzania will govern any legal dispute. STS hopes to make our visit to Tanzania National Parks and Zanzibar as enjoyable as possible.
